Mixed-Use / Multifamily

Mixed Use Multifamily Residential and Transit Oriented Design are all about creating livable places. When successfully completed; mixed use projects should become nodes of activities in and of themselves. Whether they occur as a node of a transit spine, or as part of a larger lifestyle center, successful mixed use projects are ultimately about creating an environment where occupants can live, work, and play. In doing so, perhaps the truest embodiment of sustainable design can be realized with symbiotic occupancies working together in unison to create developments that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, while increasing occupant desirability, welfare, and health via vibrant walkable communities, which ultimately result in a healthy return on investments for clients working with us to make these projects a reality.

Commercial Offices / Institutional

Commercial Office Design is all about developing places that work. As is the case with any productive environment, the key word is “work”. Not only does the end product need to be conducive to the occupants working within, but the structure itself needs to work efficiently with well-designed systems supplying the life breath to the facility. Perhaps most important to the client developing an office environment, the project should not only be designed with a budget in mind, but be maintained with lifecycle costs that make sense; minimizing energy consumption, and creating a highly leasable product that positions the facility above their competition for the life of the structure.

Similarly, Civic-Institutional & Educational facilities need to “work” for the students and educators utilizing these spaces. hi.arch.y llp fully recognizes that the health of these facilities has direct impact on the user’s experience and ability to engage, grow and learn.

Sustainability & Wellness

As a firm; we feel the early adoption and a continued pursuit of coupled energy efficiency, health and wellness and sustainable building practices are at the root of all successful projects. As a team employing and lead by LEED and WELL accredited professionals, we are well equipped to pursue LEED and WELL certification pursuits for our clients. In addition, our principal commitment to formative sustainable change is embodied by lead principal Phillip Camp’s accreditation as an AEE – Certified Energy Manager, making the firm uniquely qualified to lead the deep energy retrofits required to keep ahead of the impending energy initiatives and rising fuel costs saddling many of the inefficient facilities making up our existing building inventory. Perhaps most importantly is our focus on the health and wellness of the occupants within the projects we design.

Custom Residential

When it comes down to it; residential architecture is all about making a house a home. Residential architecture differs from many other tracts of design because it is a deeply personal journey that delves into how a client actually lives. The practice of residential architecture requires the design professional to actually place themselves in the shoes of their client. It is at this point that our team can begin to truly make a house…a home. As an alternative to the exclusively custom design tract, our team has also developed a line of pre-designed sustainable homes geared towards the client interested in a sustainable residence without the cost and time commitments associated with a one of a kind custom residence.

Planning

As a supplemental service to our core focus of architecture, planning is an integral part of the process. In as much, the sustainable planning and siting of our built projects typically initiates the sustainable development of a well thought out project. Our approach to planning starts with the environment and an understanding of how our projects will engage the site to facilitate drainage, pedestrian connectivity and other overarching factors affecting the layout of the development. Other factors such as local weather patterns, prevailing winds, solar studies and general environmental impacts are considered to maximize the benefits of the project. In addition to environmental influences, our approach to planning also takes into consideration the influences of the built environment including vehicular connectivity, transit interface, infrastructure capacities and community engagement and feedback to our proposed direction.
