This project consists of a 85,000 sf – 2.26 Acre performing arts center that houses two state of the art multi use auditoriums, a grand foyer, a civic plaza and a future art gallery addition. Set in the heart of California’s Central Valley it provided a long-awaited venue for symphony, opera, ballet and theater companies as well as major travelling companies. The 1,252 seat main Auditorium and the 444 seat Second Stage both include associated orchestra pits, fly lofts, scene docks and back of house functions that support multiple uses. The Mendez Learning Center—a Principal-Partner prior experience— is a High school located in Los Angeles, California with 110,000 sf consisting of 4 new bldgs. The key features supporting CHPS criteria in this project were passive shading and strategic use of inexpensive common materials, such as ribbed metal panels, in creating visual hierarchy and denoting entry. These ribbed metal panels are also recyclable contributing to the environmentally conscious design. Due to adjacent gang activity in East LA, security was a constant challenge. To address security, constant line of sight and fluid space connectivity was utilized to prevent any spaces from being un-chaperoned. *Project completed while principal / project manager at another firm

Another example of our Principal-Partner prior experience is the Anton Elementary School, a three-story school used by Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) as a prototype for small urban sites that can accommodate 50-60 classrooms. The 92,000 sf, K-5 elementary for 1,176 students is located in a tight 3.16-acre urban neighborhood. Subterranean parking preserves as much of the site as possible for the playground.
